Colby's Dr Seuss room

Ever since we knew that there would be a Parker, we moved Colby out of the nursery into his bigger room. We wanted it to be a fun, kid-friendly room. The nursery is decorated sweet and nice, you'd never know a little boy lived and played in there. So we decided, after reading Cat in the Hat for the millionth time, to make Colby a Dr Seuss room! Bright colors, fun characters, just a fun place to be. Its been 'done' for awhile now, but then Grandma Pugh brought over the bedding she made for him. It really brightens the room up, making it more fun! (She also made the toy box, a wooden bin for toys, and a chalkboard table for him. )

I love his name on the wall. For the stars, I just purchased cheap star cutouts from Michaels, painted them, and hot-glued them to thumbtacks. It also makes them stand out from the wall just a little bit!

Look, she even made cute buttons!

I made this for him. We scanned in some of his favorite pages from his favorite books. Printed them out, and then put them in cool frames from Michaels. More of the cool stars, too!

This is Colby's 'memory' shelf. Mostly stuff we don't want him to touch and play with often. Grandma Pugh made the C. The crab is from our trip to California in 2010. Rubik's cube because he loves stealing daddy's. The trophy for playing baseball last year. And the penguin is from Papa Smith's mission. Grandma Pugh also made the cute shelf!

Here's the toy box Grandma Pugh made. Isn't she talented? You can see the edge of the wooden crate off to the left.

Colby's towel rack, with a cute Dr Seuss towel we got at the local Pottery Barn clearance center. We unpicked the embroidered name on it, you'd never know it said Gavin :) He has a bunch of random 'paint' splatters all over. Its vinyl that was on sale. :)

This is his art display. We got a metal curtain hanger from ikea, and we clip up his favorite art projects he makes. Ok, who am I kidding, I pick out my favorites and hang them up there!

He loves his room though, which is the point. Look at how happy he is!
