Love

Lately I've discovered something about Colby. He is such a great big brother. I never expected this. I thought typical 3 yr old- he only cares about himself and will get jealous and angry at the baby. I was so wrong. My love for Colbs has only grown after seeing the gentle way he treats Parker. He is absolutely smitten by Parker (ok who isn't!) The first thing he asks for when waking up is Parker. He loves to lay next to him on the floor, tickling him and kissing him. Whenever I try to play with Parker, oh no. Its COLBY's Parker. When I was trying to take Mother's Day pics for the grandmas, I snapped this little gem. It makes my heart skip a beat to see it. Instead of looking at the camera like I wanted him to, he's gentling hugging Parker instead. I love his sweet expression, Parker's happiness to be with his big brother, and those grubby chubby 3 yr old fingers holding tight. I was afraid to have 2 kids, very sure that I couldn't love my second as much as I did Colbs. I was so wrong. My love for Colby has only grown, and I am so happy that I have my little miracle Parker to love too. I'm such a lucky mom!

Grown?

All the time I hear "oh, he's getting so BIG!" And I try not to look at them like they're crazy. He's not big, he's still so little! He's been wearing some of the same clothes for 4 months now. He barely has made it into size 1 shoes. The 1 percentile in height and less than 1% for weight. He's a little shrimp.

And then I was buckling him into his carseat yesterday, and I had to stretch out the straps again. And then I remembered how small he was at the hospital, when the straps were loose after we had pulled them as tight as they could go. How his teeny head wouldn't even fit in the newborn support, we had to cram a blanket around it so his noggin wouldn't flop around.

Then

(the carseat test at the hospital, to make sure he could sit upright without his oxygen plummeting)

Now

Yep, you're right. He is getting so big!

Slacker Mom

Yes, I am a slacker mom lately. I thought I would post some pics we had taken over the weekend. There's more at Parker's blog.
